SoapOpera Network Exclusive: Artist David O’Keefe reveals tribute painting to “All My Children”

“All My Children” ended its television run on Friday, September 23, 2011, but pop-culture artist David O’Keefe has captured the essence of what made the soap opera special to millions of viewers for more than 41-years courtesy of his new painting “A Tribute to ‘All My Children’ – Pine Valley,” which took two months from concept to fruition.

“‘All My Children’ has been a part of my family’s life for so many years, I feel a real connection to all these people. I want to capture those precious memories by creating this tribute piece to honor the impact the show has had on our culture,” said O’Keefe of the painting.

“This is a very historical and personal piece for David,” said Wayne Curtiss, Managing Director of O’Keefe Studios. “We look forward to viewer feedback on the painting.”

“David is one of the best kept secrets in the art world,” said Craig A. Fleming CEO/President of Tired Walls Inc., based in Orlando Florida. “His transformative style not only brings new life to the images he paints but also reminds you of the pure genius in his work.”

Ranging in price from $30 (plus $15 shipping) to $599 ($38 for shipping), “A Tribute to ‘All My Children’ – Pine Valley” details 41 elements for each of the soaps 41-years on television. Of course highlighted in the center of the painting is series star Susan Lucci, who portrayed icon Erica Kane for all 41-years of the ABC soap opera.

To fully understand who they are, you have to understand who I am. I am a 25-year old male, with a form of autism called Asperger's Syndrome. Social interaction is very difficult for me, as such, I've never had a girlfriend, never ever kissed a girl. So yeah, not so fun.

One day around April 2009, I was on YouTube, and came across a clip from the show "Guiding Light". I was never a soap opera fan, but I was just somehow drawn to it. It was the scene in the cemetery where Olivia, standing over Gus's grave, declares her love for Natalia. I was just... stunned.

On Saturday, 05/21/11, at 4:07pm (PST) Eden and Andrew welcomed their son, Jack Oscar Miller, into the world. Jack weighs 8lbs 14oz and is 22in long.

In a statement released by the new parents and published by DC Confidential, they said:

"He's 8lbs, 14oz and 22" long, and he's pretty awesome. But please believe when we say that his birth has nothing whatsoever to do with the Rapture today. I swear. Our son is not the Messiah. Seriously. He's just an average kid. Well, maybe not 'average' but..."

The Young and the Restless star Eden Riegel will guest-star on Castle this season, TVGuide.com has learned exclusively.

The Daytime Emmy award-winner, 29, will play Rachel Goldstein, the distraught sister of a man killed by an antique pistol in the fourth episode of the season.

Castle taps Charmed star to play Beckett's boyfriend

Before joining the cast of Young and the Restless, Riegel won a Daytime Emmy in 2005 for playing Erica Kane's (Susan Lucci) lesbian daughter Bianca on All My Children.

The third season of Castle premieres on ABC Monday, Sept. 20.

As if all those shared IMDB credits aren't enough, Riegel and Hendrickson will be appearing back-to-back this weekend at the hottest spot for sketch comedy and improv in Los Angeles, ACME Comedy Theatre (135 N. La Brea Ave

I recently caught up with the two crazy, sexy, silly sirens to dish their ACME gigs. Bianca makes After Ellen’s top 50 lesbian and bisexual characters making the list at #31

In our first annual Top 50 Lesbian and Bi Characters poll, we asked you to vote for your favorite characters from film, television, and internet shows.

You cast your votes, and now we have the results. Before we reveal the winners, let's take a look at some of the trends that emerged.

Almost all of the characters were from films and television shows that made their debut after the year 2000. A few of the exceptions include Kerry Weaver from ER, and the ass-kicking ladies from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

While most of the characters were from US productions, a fair amount came from international shows, including our top two characters (from the UK show Skins).

Also notable was the fact that some of your favorite characters, the leads from Xena: Warrior Princess (which ran from 1995-2001) and Idgie Threadgood from the film Fried Green Tomatoes (1991), were never officially presented as lesbian or bisexual.

It's probably no coincidence that those characters emerged at a time when there was far less lesbian/bi visibility in the media, forcing viewers to make the most of the "subtext" provided to them by the studios and networks. As a result, these unofficially queer characters went on to become positive iconic figures in pop culture who are still beloved by their queer fans.

While our poll welcomed nominations from film, television and internet shows, only one web series was represented in the Top 50. Anyone But Me produced not one but two of the most popular characters, Aster and Vivian.

Finally, The L Word's strong ensemble cast made an impressive showing in our poll. Of the top ten characters, four were from the show, and nine L Word characters total made the top 50.

Congratulations Eden for making to top 50! We will miss You as Bianca.

Eden recently updated her website and gave us her most recent and exciting news.

She stars in an independently-produced pilot for a new series called Monster In the House, about a group of spooky housemates (a vampire, a teenage werewolf, a reanimated man, a zombie, a mad-scientist, and his hunchbacked assistant) looking for a new roommate. Eden played Mona, a seemingly-normal, sweet girl who applies to be the new housemate, but is, in fact, the biggest monster of them all: turns out, she’s a cannibal!

Trauma Team, about a group of maverick M.D.s operating under cover out of a taco truck in the inner city to provide medical care to uninsured patients who have fallen through the cracks of the American health care system. She plays Taylor, a brilliant doctor who is completely clueless when it comes to matters of the heart.

With the news of Eden Riegel joining Y&R as Heather, the question remains: What will happen to Bianca? A recast, according to an ABC insider, who declares, "The show really wanted Eden back." The source adds that the actress indicated she was done playing the beloved role of Erica's daughter.

Eden Riegel Joins Y&R

The show confirms that Vail Bloom, who joined Y&R in 2007, is out as Heather and Eden Riegel (ex-Bianca, AMC) is taking over the role. This reunites Riegel with her former on-screen love interest and close pal, Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe; ex-Maggie, AMC), whom she also worked with on the online soap IMAGINARY BITCHES. Though Riegel didn't confirm the news, she did tweet: "I've got some really interesting, fun news coming your way! I know it's cruel to tease, but I'm too excited to keep it in."

Riegel previously confirmed to Digest that AMC sought to lure her back on contract as Bianca when it announced its move from New York to L.A., but they couldn't come to terms. "I don't know if the breaking point was money or outs," a source close to the actress told Digest at the time, "but I know that she was bummed and so was the show."

Riegel will first begin taping the week of March 15.

I am delighted for Eden, but at the same time I’m sad. Watching Eden play Bianca over the years has been some of my favorite AMC stories. Eden will defiantly be missed as Bianca (She is Bianca!) but, since they're recasting the Bianca character they can now bring back Reese and as we all know having Breese back on screen would be Great. So Yes, I have mix feeling saying good bye to Eden as Bianca, but the chance to have Breese back is very exciting.

Eden is the Voice of Yuna in the New Disney Animated Series Stitch.

Yuna is the new girl who replaces Lilo in this new adaptation. She is a young 9-year old 4th grader, elementary-school student who lives on a fictional island off the shore of Okinawa, called Izayoi. Living on Izayoi, she learned and studies karate, living a rather normal life, but having to deal with minor problems living with her grandmother, Obaa. However, one day she meets a strange creature that has come from the depths of space, Stitch.

Stitch will air in the Disney Channel line-up sometime in 2010.

The soap opera All My Children celebrates its 40th anniversary on January 5, and no character has impacted the landscape in Pine Valley, the town where the soap is set, quite like Bianca Montgomery, played by Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Eden Riegel. Through multiple stints in the last nine years, heroine Bianca has been beset with such emotional turmoil as coming out to a less-than-supportive mother (Erica Kane, played by Susan Lucci), repairing a relationship with her sibling, being raped and raising the rapist’s baby, and falling in love numerous times (the last of which resulted in soaps’ first gay marriage, see our 2009 timeline).

Riegel is now based in Los Angeles and is hoping to continue production on her YouTube comedy series Imaginary Bitches, in which a woman escapes from the reality that her close friends are all getting married by making up imaginary friends, only to realize that they’re “total bitches.” On a busy week just before Christmas, Riegel managed to sit down and talk with OMG! about her role on All My Children, which made her a gay icon, and what she plans to do with her comedic talents in 2010.
